Mark has grown and diversified the communication
capabilities at all these agencies. He pioneered new approaches and capabilities in areas like research, branded content,
product placement and digital. Mark has been the lead strategist both in the Uk and internationally on clients like Orange,
Sony, Vodafone, BMW, PepsiCo, Fox and Channel 4. He has personally won both the
IPA and Media Week Grand Prix. The clients he has worked with, and the planning
functions he has led, have won in excess of 70 awards, including 5 Grand Prix. Mark was most recently executive head of strategy
at OMD and left in March 2005.
Mark is professionally qualified in Marketing and
Research, both with distinction. Before entering the advertising industry, Mark
ran a NPD research consultancy in Newcastle, where he moderated creative and concept development for clients such as Proctor
& Gamble, Courtaulds, Scottish and Newcastle and British Film Year.
Mark
was on the IPA Media Futures Group and chaired the Value of Media Group. He has also done work for a number
of trade bodies, such as the International Advertising Association or Mobile Marketing Association Global as a conference
chairman or panel moderator. He is an occasional journalist and writes for both marketing trade titles and the national press.
Mark acts as a non executive
and has an equity stake in a small number of businesses he is involved in.
Keen on sports Mark can be found with his son and
brother at Charlton Athletic matches. He is also a qualified cricket and rugby
coach. For 10 years he acted as the media consultant to English Cricket, helping
to take its annual media revenues from £5m to £50m.
